Travel Vaccinations for Morocco

Morocco is a popular destination for UK travellers, from the souks of Marrakech to the beaches of Agadir, and most trips need only a few routine travel vaccinations.

Hepatitis A and typhoid are the usual discussion points because both can spread through contaminated food and water, and rabies awareness matters wherever stray animals are present. A travel health consultation confirms what suits your trip, your health and your plans.

Traveller advice

Most stomach upsets in Morocco are food and water related, so favour bottled or treated water, eat freshly cooked hot food and wash your hands often.

Rabies has been reported in animals in Morocco, so do not approach or handle stray dogs, cats or other animals, and keep children away from them. If you are bitten, scratched or licked on broken skin, wash the wound with soap and running water and seek urgent medical care straight away, even if you have had the rabies vaccine.

Summer heat in Marrakech and the south can be considerable, so carry water, cover up and limit midday sun.

What you need depends on your itinerary, length of stay and health, so book a consultation, ideally four to six weeks before you travel.
