About this service

This is a consultation for people who need emergency adrenaline for the treatment of anaphylaxis, a severe allergic reaction. Our pharmacist reviews your allergy history and your current emergency plan, and talks through the options that are suitable for you.

Who it is for

People who have been advised to carry emergency adrenaline. If you already carry an adrenaline auto-injector, keep carrying it unless a clinician tells you otherwise.

What to expect

Book a short appointment. Our pharmacist checks your suitability and talks through how and when to use emergency adrenaline, how to store it, and how to keep it in date. Anything supplied is subject to a suitability assessment and to availability.

In an emergency

At the first signs of a severe reaction, use your adrenaline device straight away, then call 999 and say "anaphylaxis". Lie down and raise your legs. Sit up only if you are struggling to breathe, and do not stand or walk even if you feel better. If you have two devices and your symptoms have not improved after 5 minutes, use the second device. Carry both devices with you at all times, and replace them before they expire.

Safety

This service supports, and does not replace, the advice of your GP or allergy specialist. Suspected side effects can be reported through the MHRA Yellow Card scheme.

Safety and what to expect

All Longeva services follow GPhC standards. Suspected adverse reactions to any vaccine or medicine are reported through the MHRA Yellow Card scheme. Written aftercare is provided at every appointment. Contact us at the number in the footer if you have concerns after your visit.
