What Is a Chemical Peel?

A chemical peel is a professional skin treatment designed to improve skin tone, texture and overall clarity by removing damaged outer layers of skin. At Longeva Wellness, chemical peels are delivered through a clinician-led approach tailored to individual skin concerns and skin type.

Different peel strengths and acid combinations are used depending on the concern being treated, helping to reveal fresher, smoother and more even-looking skin.

Skin Concerns That Can Be Treated

Chemical peels are commonly used to improve uneven skin tone, sun damage, mild acne scarring, enlarged pores, congestion and dull-looking skin. During consultation, the most appropriate peel is selected based on your skin condition, treatment goals and medical history.

Patients travel to our clinic from Rochdale, Manchester and across Greater Manchester for personalised aesthetic treatments delivered under clinical supervision.

The Treatment Process

Every treatment begins with a detailed skin consultation to assess suitability and prepare the skin appropriately. The peel solution is applied following cleansing, and a mild warming or tingling sensation during treatment is normal. Sessions are typically quick and straightforward with minimal downtime.

Aftercare and Recovery

Some redness, dryness or light peeling after treatment is expected and forms part of the skin renewal process. Following aftercare advice carefully is important to protect the skin and optimise results, including daily sun protection during recovery.

Full written aftercare guidance is provided following every appointment.

Suitability and Consultation

Not all skin types are suited to every chemical peel. Certain skin conditions, sensitivities, medications or recent treatments may affect suitability, which is why consultation is an essential part of the process.

As a GPhC-registered pharmacy with pharmacist-led clinical governance, patient safety and professional care remain central to every treatment decision.

Our clinic offers free on-site parking, refreshments during your visit and convenient access from across Greater Manchester.

Frequently asked questions

How many treatments are needed?

Some concerns respond well to a single session. Others benefit from a course. The number is discussed during consultation.

Will there be visible peeling?

This depends on the peel depth. Superficial peels cause mild flaking, while deeper treatments involve more noticeable shedding.

Can I wear makeup afterwards?

Makeup is generally best avoided for at least 24 hours after treatment. Specific aftercare guidance will be provided.

When will I see results?

Improvements in tone and clarity are usually visible once redness and flaking settle, typically within one to two weeks.
