Travel vaccinations

Travel vaccinations FAQ

Common questions about travel vaccinations and our pharmacist-led service in Rochdale, Greater Manchester. If your question is not answered here, please ask us at your consultation.

How many doses are needed?

It depends on the vaccine. Some need a single dose, while others are a course of two or more doses given over weeks or months. We confirm your schedule at your consultation and plan it with the right timing before you travel.

Are vaccines safe?

The vaccines we use are approved by the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) and are subject to ongoing safety monitoring. Most side effects are mild and short-lived. Serious reactions are very rare, and our team is trained to manage them.

Can I receive multiple vaccines at the same appointment?

Often yes. Several travel vaccines can be given safely at the same visit. Your clinician confirms which vaccines can be given together, based on your history and the vaccines involved.

Do vaccines interact with my medicines?

Please tell us about any medicines, recent treatments or health conditions. Your clinician checks for interactions and suitability before any vaccine is given.

What about pregnancy and breastfeeding?

Some vaccines are suitable during pregnancy or while breastfeeding, and some are avoided. We assess this individually and discuss the benefits and any risks with you before deciding.

I am immunocompromised. Can I be vaccinated?

If your immune system is weakened, some vaccines (particularly live vaccines) may not be suitable, and the response to others can differ. We assess your situation individually and liaise with your specialist where needed.
