About Strep A Antibiotics
Strep A is a bacterial infection that commonly affects the throat and can cause symptoms such as sore throat, fever, swollen glands and difficulty swallowing. While many sore throats are viral and self-limiting, some cases may require assessment and antibiotic treatment where clinically appropriate.
At Longeva Wellness, pharmacist-led consultations focus on assessing symptoms carefully, identifying likely causes and recommending safe and appropriate treatment options based on clinical presentation.
Recognising Symptoms of Strep A
Typical symptoms can include a sudden sore throat, pain when swallowing, fever, red or swollen tonsils and white patches at the back of the throat. Some patients may also experience headache, fatigue or swollen neck glands.
Patients travel to our clinic from Rochdale, Manchester and across Greater Manchester for personalised consultations and treatment advice delivered under clinical supervision.
Treatment Options
Treatment depends on symptom severity and clinical assessment. Where appropriate, antibiotics may be supplied under Pharmacy First or a Patient Group Direction following evaluation. Not all sore throats require antibiotics and careful assessment is essential.
Our team ensures treatment decisions are evidence based and tailored to each patient’s symptoms and medical history.
Pharmacist-Led Care
Pharmacist-led consultations allow eligible patients to access selected prescription-only medicines without needing a GP appointment where clinically appropriate.
This supports faster access to assessment and treatment while ensuring antibiotic use remains safe, appropriate and responsible.
When To Seek Further Help
Severe symptoms, difficulty breathing, inability to swallow fluids or worsening condition despite treatment require urgent medical attention. Our team will always advise when GP review or emergency care is necessary.
As a GPhC-registered pharmacy with pharmacist-led clinical governance, patient safety and professional care remain central to every consultation.
Our clinic offers free on-site parking, refreshments during your visit and convenient access from across Greater Manchester.
