What Does Traveller's Diarrhoea Cover?

Traveller’s diarrhoea refers to gastrointestinal illness that can occur when travelling, often caused by contaminated food or water. At Longeva Wellness, pharmacist-led travel health consultations assess the specific risks associated with your destination and individual circumstances to provide tailored prevention advice.

Recommendations may include vaccinations, prescription medications and practical health precautions appropriate to your travel plans.

Why Early Preparation Matters

Some travel health measures, including certain vaccinations and preventive treatments, require time to complete before departure. Starting your travel health preparation early ensures there is sufficient time for any required protection to be fully effective.

Patients travel to our clinic from Rochdale, Manchester and across Greater Manchester for pharmacist-led travel health consultations delivered under clinical supervision.

What To Bring to Your Appointment

Please bring your full travel itinerary including destinations, dates and planned activities. Previous vaccination history and any relevant medical information are also helpful in ensuring safe and accurate clinical advice.

Prescription Travel Medications

Some travel health treatments require a prescription, including certain medications used for prevention or treatment of traveller’s diarrhoea as well as antimalarials and altitude sickness treatments. Our team assesses suitability during consultation and provides prescription access where clinically appropriate.

All prescribing decisions are made following a full clinical assessment.

After Your Consultation

Following your appointment, you will receive a personalised travel health plan covering recommended vaccinations, prescription medications and general travel advice. Written records can be provided where needed.

Our team remains available to answer any questions before your departure.

As a GPhC-registered pharmacy with pharmacist-led clinical governance, patient safety and professional care remain central to every consultation.

Our clinic offers free on-site parking, refreshments during your visit and convenient access from across Greater Manchester.

Frequently asked questions

How far in advance should I book?

Ideally at least four to six weeks before travel to allow time for all required vaccinations and medications to be arranged.

Do I need a consultation for every trip?

It depends on the destination. Trips to higher-risk regions benefit from a review even if you have travelled there before.

Are travel vaccinations available on the NHS?

Some are. Many are provided privately. Our team advises on what is available and at what cost.

Can I get malaria tablets from a pharmacy?

Some antimalarials are available without prescription. Others require one. A consultation identifies the most appropriate option.
