Travel vaccinations
Travel Health Consultation
A travel health consultation is where a pharmacist reviews your trip, confirms what you need, and plans your vaccinations and medication before you travel. It is the starting point for every travel service at our Rochdale clinic in Greater Manchester.
What happens at your consultation
Step 1: Risk assessment
We review your destination, how long you are staying, the type of accommodation, and your planned activities, so the advice fits your actual trip.
Step 2: Vaccine planning
We confirm which vaccines you need now, which need a course of more than one dose, and the timing before you travel. Ideally this is 6 to 8 weeks ahead, so there is time for each course to take effect.
Step 3: Medication
Where malaria prevention is needed, we select the most suitable antimalarial for your destination and health, and talk you through how to take it and any side effects.
Step 4: Preventative advice
We cover food and water hygiene, insect bite prevention, and what to pack in a travel health kit, so you are protected beyond the vaccines themselves.
Booking your consultation
Please note that attendance at a travel consultation does not guarantee that all recommended vaccines can be administered on the same day. Booking ahead gives the best chance of completing everything before you travel.
