What Does Malaria Prevention Cover?

Malaria prevention involves assessing the specific health risks associated with your destination, travel itinerary and individual medical circumstances. At Longeva Wellness, pharmacist-led travel health consultations provide tailored recommendations which may include antimalarial prescription medications, vaccinations where relevant and general travel health precautions to reduce risk while abroad.

Each plan is personalised based on your travel route, duration and exposure risk.

Why Early Preparation Matters

Some travel health measures, including certain vaccines and preventative medications, need time to take effect before travel. Starting your malaria prevention planning early ensures there is sufficient time for any required prescriptions, vaccinations or dosing schedules to be completed properly.

Patients travel to our clinic from Rochdale, Manchester and across Greater Manchester for pharmacist-led travel health consultations delivered under clinical supervision.

What To Bring to Your Appointment

Please bring your full travel itinerary, including destinations, dates and planned activities. Any previous vaccination history and relevant medical information are also helpful in ensuring safe and accurate clinical advice.

Prescription Travel Medications

Where appropriate, prescription antimalarial medications may be provided as part of your travel health plan. Our team assesses suitability during consultation and issues prescriptions only where clinically appropriate and safe.

All prescribing decisions are made following a full clinical assessment.

After Your Consultation

Following your appointment, you will receive a personalised travel health plan covering recommended vaccinations, preventative medication and general health guidance for your destination. Written records can be provided where needed.

Our team remains available to support you with any questions before departure.

As a GPhC-registered pharmacy with pharmacist-led clinical governance, patient safety and professional care remain central to every consultation.

Our clinic offers free on-site parking, refreshments during your visit and convenient access from across Greater Manchester.

Frequently asked questions

How far in advance should I book?

Ideally at least four to six weeks before travel to allow time for all required vaccinations and medications to be arranged.

Do I need a consultation for every trip?

It depends on the destination. Trips to higher-risk regions benefit from a review even if you have travelled there before.

Are travel vaccinations available on the NHS?

Some are. Many are provided privately. Our team advises on what is available and at what cost.

Can I get malaria tablets from a pharmacy?

Some antimalarials are available without prescription. Others require one. A consultation identifies the most appropriate option.
