Menopause Weight Gain: What Actually Changes and What Can Help?
Some women notice weight or body-shape changes around perimenopause and menopause, but hormones are only part of the picture. Ageing, muscle mass, activity, sleep, diet, stress and medicines can all influence weight and health.

Does menopause automatically cause weight gain?
No single explanation applies to everyone. Midlife changes can affect body composition and where fat is stored, while sleep disruption, reduced activity and changes in muscle mass may also influence energy balance. Avoid blaming yourself or assuming a single hormone is responsible.
What helps?
A sustainable approach usually includes adequate protein and fibre, regular movement, strength-based activity, sleep support and realistic long-term habits. Extreme diets and unproven 'menopause weight-loss' products are unlikely to provide a durable solution.
Can medical weight management be considered?
For some people, a separate clinical weight-management assessment may be appropriate depending on health, eligibility and individual circumstances. Weight management is not a treatment for menopause. At Longeva Wellness our Weight Management service starts from £75 and is subject to clinical assessment and suitability.

What if my weight has changed suddenly?
Unexpected or unexplained weight change can have causes unrelated to menopause and should be discussed with a healthcare professional where appropriate.
