Where to Get Urgent Mental Health Help in England

If you are experiencing a mental health crisis, the most important thing is to use the right level of help now rather than waiting for a routine appointment.

If someone is in immediate danger

Call 999 or go to A&E now if you or someone else is in danger. This includes situations where immediate emergency intervention is needed to keep someone safe.

If you need urgent mental health help but it is not an emergency

Use NHS 111 online or call 111 and select the mental health option. NHS 111 can direct you to the appropriate urgent mental health support available in your area.

If you need someone to talk to

Samaritans: 116 123. The number is free to call and support is available day or night.

If the problem is important but not urgent

Speak to your GP or use appropriate NHS mental health services. Adults in England can self-refer to NHS Talking Therapies for anxiety and depression in most areas without first seeing a GP, and you do not need an existing mental health diagnosis to self-refer.

What if you are helping someone else?

Take statements about suicide or self-harm seriously. Listen without judgement and help the person access appropriate support. If you believe they are in immediate danger, call 999 or go to A&E.

Important

Longeva Wellness is not an emergency or mental health crisis service. Do not wait for a Longeva appointment if urgent help is needed.
